Crane vs. Heron: The $14,000 Lesson That Taught Me How to Buy Hyundai Construction Equipment

Standing next to a pond behind our workshop in October 2022, I watched a blue heron lift its head, hold perfectly still, and strike at the water. From where I stood, it looked—honestly—like a mini crawler crane. Same silhouette, same patient stance, same sudden movement. The excavator arrived on schedule. The skid steer arrived on schedule. The pump arrived damaged.

Second, the small shipping costs. It's the same TCO logic, scaled down. When I mail contracts and inspection reports, I price USPS shipping deliberately.
